Message from the CEO

Anthony Schembri AM Nov19

St Vincent’s Health Network Graduate Health Management Program is a dedicated program that I am particularly proud of and passionate about. It’s a unique and privileged position to be able to nurture the next generation of innovative, compassionate and inclusive leaders in healthcare, who will continue to grow our health service, not just in response to community need, but in planning for the future health needs of our population.

At St Vincent’s, our graduates will experience career-defining opportunities. As a major tertiary hospital and trauma centre, we’re in the unique position to provide comprehensive health leadership experience in multiple streams of health care and research, which include several centres of excellence including heart and lung transplantation, cancer and HIV care. Additionally our work in homeless health, mental health and alcohol & drug services is as innovative as it is sometimes controversial. We’ve adapted novel treatment programs that we like to call “healthcare at the edge”, because we are willing to extend our care in ways that challenge the usual health care response, ensuring we improve the journey of those people who otherwise might fall through the gaps. In short, at St Vincent’s, you’ll be challenged to think outside of the box.

Because we know that the future of healthcare relies on strong leadership and clear direction, every trainee that we host in our organisation works alongside our Senior Leadership Team including myself, to solve complex challenges and to continue to ensure our mission of serving the vulnerable is always at the forefront of everything that we do.

I look forward to welcoming you to the St Vincent’s family
