Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute

The Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute is focussed on complementing and informing the clinical cardiology and cardiothoracic efforts of St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney.

Our Institute was established in 1994 to honour the memory and vision of the late Dr Victor Chang – a pioneering heart and lung surgeon and humanitarian, who established Australia’s first heart transplant program in 1984.

In addition to being internationally recognised for the quality of our discoveries and research output, the Victor Chang Institute is also a centre of excellence in cardiovascular research training, and in the rapid translation of research discoveries to patients with diseases of the heart and blood vessels.
