St Vincent’s Cardiology Fellow Wins Esteemed Prize

12 Oct 2023

St Vincent’s Cardiologist, Dr Hannah Kempton has won the esteemed 2023 ANZET Geoff Mews Memorial Price at the Annual Cardiac Society Scientific Conference.

This prize is awarded for the best clinical case as presented by any Interventional Cardiology Fellow.

Dr Kempton presented a recent case, led by Drs Roy and Muller, using a new technique to access the aortic valve to perform a transcutaneous valve replacement for a patient who was not a suitable candidate for surgery.

“This procedure was the only treatment option for the patient, and the case was a great way to showcase the work of the highly trained and innovative structural heart team at St Vincent's”, explained Dr Kempton.

As a result of this prize, the Cardiac Society will send Dr Kempton to the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions Fellows Training Course in December. Dr Kempton will then be starting her role as the inaugural Structural Heart Fellow at St Vincent's in February 2024, during which she will receive highly specialised training in diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures for the treatment of structural heart disease.

Dr Kempton’s prize and new appointment is testament to the clinical expertise and specialist cardiology services available on the St Vincent’s Campus.

Congratulations!
