The document sets out an ambitious plan to build on a legacy and equity in healthcare that St Vincent’s has long been reputed for. The strategy vision is built on a healthcare service that is driven by equity, compassion and excellence in healthcare and a sense of belonging for all sexuality and gender diverse people who come in to our care, as well as our colleagues. Chief Executive, A/Professor Anthony Schembri AM launched the strategy to staff, community partners and representatives from NSW Health, calling out the cultural humility approach the strategy employs, asking the health service to focus on being curious, and providing holistic and patient centred care. While working with people from diverse sexualities and genders is not a new concept for St Vincent’s, we have committed to a space where staff and patients feel safe, empowered and supported to be their authentic selves and will work to continue to increase visibility of sexuality and gender diverse people across our services.
