St Vincent’s installs state-of-the-art heart lung machine You are here:HomeNewsroomNews St Vincent’s installs state-of-the-art heart lung machine 10 Oct 2023 St Vincent’s have recently acquired the latest technology available in cardiopulmonary perfusion medicine, and are one of only two hospitals in Australia to have the next generation Heart Lung Bypass machine available. The Essenz Perfusion System promotes data driven care using an intuitive user interface, recording and displaying vital information to assist the perfusionist throughout the procedure. Data is transferred automatically, minimising manual data entry and freeing up valuable time for the surgical team while in the operating suite, maintaining the patients’ organs and tissues in a safe and stable condition while the heart is stopped. The St Vincent’s team successfully performed the first adult clinical case using this technology in Australia. St Vincent’s Curran Foundation acquired three of these state-of-the-art machines with the generous philanthropic support of the JW & M Cunningham Foundation.
