St Vincent's Honoured in City of Sydney Business Awards

26 Oct 2021

We are profoundly proud to have been recognised at the 2021 Business NSW – City of Sydney Business Awards for our contribution to our communities and diversity.

Our Hospital’s Covid-19 response took out the award for the most outstanding community organisation while our Stay'n In, Stay'n Deadly Flexi-clinic in the Emergency Department people delivering better health outcomes for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients won the top prize for excellence in diversity and inclusion.

In announcing the Awards, Lord Mayor Clover Moore hailed St Vincents’ contributions during the unprecedented Sydney lockdown and vaccination roll out as phenomenal, noting “In terms of contribution to the community, I don’t think there could have been any other winner. The hospital’s tireless operations at the frontline of the Covid pandemic, as well as the roll out of vaccinations for so many in our community, has been nothing short of life changing.”

There is not a single staff member who hasn’t contributed in some way to the delivery of our COVID-19 response, this award is a reflection of those collective efforts.

Throughout it all, our Emergency, and Aboriginal Health teams continued to deliver outstanding care to our Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander communities with a program that is now being sought after at an international level. The Stayin’ In, Stay’n Deadly was introduced in June 2020 and very quickly, transformed our Aboriginal patient retention rate from the worst in NSW to the best, an achievement that has been successfully maintained since its inception.

In addition, Stay’n In, Stay’n Deadly Flexi-clinic has been awarded the 2021 Al Spilman Award for Culturally Safe Emergency Departments, from the Australian College for Emergency Medicine, and announced as a Silver Medal Finalist at the prestigious International Hospital Federation Award for Corporate Social Responsibility where there were over 250 entries from 37 countries in this category.

Both of these awards represent wonderful community acknowledgement of our hard work – well done all and congratulations!
