Dr Mandeep (Mandy) Kaur was recently presented with the inaugural Rural Doctor in Training of the Year Award for 2023.

Mandy was raised in regional NSW, and following studying medicine abroad in India, Mandy returned to train as a junior doctor at Wagga Wagga Base Hospital, where she was awarded Resident of the Year in 2020. The following year Mandy joined St Vincent’s but has not lost her passion for rural improving the health of people living in remote and rural areas of Australia.

As part of the team to develop a remote Rheumatology telehealth service for the Riverina region, Mandy is hopeful the service will be further rolled out across rural and remote Australia.
While her passion is cardiology, Mandy is committed to a career in Rural Generalism in the future.

“I love Rural Medicine because of the breadth of clinical medicine you practice and the difference you can make while becoming a part of the community. Growing up in Hillston, I’ve always been aware of the challenges that rural patients can face, but value the opportunity to help those who often don’t have the same access to care as those in the city”, she said.
