Course overview:

The course, which is designed for doctors with little experience of Intensive Care, consists of a series of lectures and skill stations covering many aspects of the care of critically ill patients with an emphasis on supportive management, particularly mechanical ventilation.

Topics will include: airway management, CPR, acute respiratory failure, mechanical ventilation, haemodynamic monitoring, diagnosis and management of shock, trauma, severe sepsis, transport of the critically ill, metabolic and electrolyte disturbances and acid base disturbances.

The course runs over two days and includes a pre-course test, short lectures, skill stations and an end of course assessment. Course manuals are provided for pre-course reading.

Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea provided on both days.

Pricing:

$400 + GST internal, $650 + GST external. Medical participants only; nursing staff attend at no charge

Catering provided: Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea provided on both days. Please advise any special catering requirements on registration.


Parking:

Participants are required to organise their own travel and parking arrangements.


Cancellation policy:

Registration fees will be refunded in full if the course coordinator is notified in writing by 14 August 2026. 50% will be refunded if notification in writing is received by 21 August 2026. No refund will apply after 21 August 2026.
