What to Bring

Reviewing a checklist of what to bring to hospital can help ensure you have everything you need to keep you comfortable while staying with us. Most patients will bring:

  • Toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, shaver, deodorant etc.)
  • Nightwear and comfortable clothing
  • Comfortable footwear such as non-slip slippers or trainers
  • All medications currently being taken in their original pharmacy package
  • Any relevant scans or X-rays
  • Glasses and any other personal aids such as hearing aids, walking aids, dentures, medical equipment such as your CPAP machine.
  • Medicare card and, if applicable, your health benefit card, pensioner health card, or health fund membership card
  • A small amount of cash ($20 or less) to buy newspapers, snacks and other day-to-day items you may want
  • Books and magazines

Please note that all personal items are the responsibility of the patient. Bring only those personal items that you will need during your hospital stay. All items must be housed in a lockable cupboard beside your bed. There are no facilities to store excess items. St Vincent’s is not able to take responsibility for lost, stolen, damaged or misplaced items.
