Early screening for Lung Cancer

Every year in Australia thousands of people are diagnosed with lung cancer, often late as there are no symptoms in the early stages.

St Vincent’s Hospital doctors are starting a research program using low dose CT scan to detect lung cancer at very early stages. This aims to find lung cancer before it has spread so that treatment with surgery can be offered to cure it.

People who are current or former smokers, 55 or over and in good general health may be eligible.
