Course overview:

The aim of the program is to provide essential theory and practical (manikin based) for venepuncture & cannulation technique and enable clinicians to develop the requisite skills to be able to safely perform cannulation in such a way that complies with NSW Health Policies.

Key topics:

On completion of the workshop, participants will have acquired the underpinning knowledge, technical skill, clinical practice and clinical assessment to safely provide care to a patient undergoing cannulation and venepuncture. It is expected that participants will be able to:

•    Argue the importance of maintaining hand hygiene requirements and aseptic technique whilst performing the procedure
•    Demonstrate effective communication with and preparing patients for the procedure
•    Discuss the anatomy and physiology of the peripheral vascular system
•    Identify and locate suitable veins and appropriate cannula sizes for various clinical situations and scenarios
•    Investigate complications and their management relating to venous access
•    Execute satisfactory cannulation insertion technique.

Cancellation provided up to 5 working days before the program a full refund will be issued.
Cancellation past the 5 working days and before 24 hours prior to the program half refund will be issued.
Cancellation with 24hrs prior to the program no refund is issued.
