Prof Louise Emmett

Bio:

Prof Louise Emmett is the Director of Theranostics and nuclear medicine at St Vincent's Sydney, a conjoint professor (medicine) University of New South Wales and clinical research leader at Garvan Institute of Medicine Research.  She undertook her medical undergraduate training in Auckland, New Zealand, prior to completing her specialty training in Nuclear Medicine in Sydney, and a post specialty fellowship (Nuclear Cardiology)  in Toronto, Canada in 2001. She has a strong interest in research, having completed a Doctorate of Medicine ( Nuclear Cardiology)  in 2012. She commenced work in Nuclear Medicine and PET at St Vincent's Hospital, Sydney in 2012, and has since initiated radio-pharmacy production of multiple imaging and therapy tracers on the St Vincent's campus for clinical and research evaluation of cancer. She is heavily involved in multidisciplinary cancer research in Australia, including both imaging and therapy. She is the principal investigator of a number of prospective randomised national trials currently open around Australia. Prof Emmett is also involved in translational work, working with biotech companies to bring potentially  exciting new theranostic agents into the clinic with phase one clinical trials

Nicholas Pocock

Bio:

Dr.Pocock graduated in medicine from Sydney University in 1978. In 1987 he became a Fellow of the RACP and in 1989 gained his Doctorate in Medicine. He is a Senior Staff Specialist in the Department of Nuclear Medicine at St Vincent’s Hospital, Darlinghurst and Associate Professor at the University of NSW. Dr Pocock’s interests include the epidemiology and diagnostic measurements used in osteoporosis, and his work has resulted in over 110 publications.He is currently a member of the ANZBMS, OA and IOF scientific Advisory committees and the RANZCR Densitometry advisory Committee.

Lyn Chan

Bio:

Dr. Chan received her medical degree from the University of Sydney and graduated with Honours in 1994. She commenced physician training at Concord Hospital in 1996 and specialist training in Nuclear Medicine in 1998 at St Vincent’s and Wollongong Hospitals. She has been a staff specialist at St Vincent’s Hospital since 2006 and Wollongong Hospital since 2002. Special interests include PET/CT in oncology, therapy, cardiac, thyroid and bone imaging. She has published and spoken on PET/CT, bone and SPECT/CT imaging. Other languages spoken include Cantonese and Malay.

Bio:

Dr. Bao Ho is an experienced dual-qualified radiologist and nuclear medicine PET specialist, working in both theranostics and medical imaging departments at St Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney. He is an active member of the multidisciplinary team, working closely with the Kinghorn Cancer Centre, the Garvan Institute and the University of NSW. He has subspecialty interests in advanced MRI and PET oncological imaging, theranostics and research especially in prostate, uroradiology and head and neck cancers.

Bio:

Dr Andrew Nguyen is a senior staff specialist at St Vincent’s Hospital Department of Theranostics and Nuclear Medicine in Sydney. He has years of experience in molecular imaging and therapy, with specialty interests in functional neuroimaging for dementia, and in prostate and thyroid Theranostics. Dr Nguyen is a keen educator and currently a Conjoint Senior Lecturer at St Vincent’s Clinical School, UNSW Medicine. He is also a RACP appointed member on the Committee for Joint College Training in Nuclear Medicine (Research Lead).

Bio:

Dr Jonathan Lee is a graduate of the University of New South Wales and is a dual qualified Radiologist and Nuclear Medicine Specialist. Jonathan completed radiology training through the Southern Radiology Network including St Vincent's, Prince of Wales and St George Hospitals. He subsequently undertook two years of advanced training in nuclear medicine at Royal North Shore and St Vincent’s Hospitals. He has a keen interest in multi-modality oncology imaging including advanced MRI and PET.

Dr William received his Medical Degree from The University of Sydney in 2018. He received his PhD in Medical Physics from McMaster University in Canada in 2013. Before joining the team at St Vincent's Hospital, he worked in Intensive Care at Manning Base Hospital in Taree. William has a keen interest in Medical Imaging and Radiation Physics.

Bio:

Adam is the Chief Medical Radiation Scientist of the department, commencing his service at St. Vincent's Hospital in 2002. Adam graduated from Charles Sturt University with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Nuclear Medicine Technology) in 2000 and was awarded a Master of Health Services Administration in 2013. Adam led the introduction of the PET service within the department in 2007 and was integral in several research projects regarding new PET prostate imaging tracers and PET imaging technique.

Bio:

Maria joined the team at St. Vincent's Hospital in January 2021.

With 28 years clinical experience working in Nuclear Medicine, PET, CT and DEXA and 10 years Ultrasound experience, Maria is responsible for the Nuclear Medicine and Theranostics section within the department. Maria is a dedicated Medical Radiation Scientist who is passionate about Nuclear Medicine and excited to be involved in the emerging world of Theranostics. Maria considers this precision medicine to be so important as it presents a chance to change people's lives and improve their quality of life. In Maria's spare time, she enjoys the outdoors and has a passion for travel and wildlife photography.

Bio:

Dr Enid joined the department in 2021 and leads the medical physics team. Enid brings a variety of skills and expertise from various professional working environments e.g., hospital, industry and academia. Enid's first experience as a medical physicist was working as a junior medical physicist in Radiation Oncology (Royal Prince Alfred Hospital) and she later switched fields to Nuclear Medicine through her postdoctoral research at the University of Sydney, Northern Clinical School. She has worked as a medical physicist at Royal North Shore Hospital where she was involved in quantitative imaging development and applications for radionuclide therapy, including dosimetry, and also the assessment of radiation safety in new therapies. Enid has extensive experience working in imaging and therapy clinical trials in Nuclear Medicine having worked at GenesisCare CRO Nuclear Medicine and Central Imaging Services, Sirtex Medical Pty ltd, Clarity Pharmaceuticals Ltd, and Oncosil Medical Ltd.

Aisde from her work , Enid also enjoys being a mother of 3!

Taka graduated in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science (Physics and Chemistry), later obtaining a first Class Honours in Chemistry at the University of Sydney. He began his Doctor of philosophy in physics in 2018 at the University of Sydney in collaboration with the Bill Walsh Translational Cancer Research Laboratory and the Royal North Shore Nuclear Medicine Department. The research involved the use of a novel Theranostics modality to study its radiobiological effects in vitro. Taka recently joined the St Vincent's Theranostics and Nuclear Medicine Department in 2022 as a medical Physics Registrar, and will be completing his ACPSEM TEAP Training in Diagnostic Imaging Physics for the next three years.
