Osteoarthritis Chronic Care Program (OACCP)

The OACCP at St Vincent’s Hospital is a multidisciplinary program targeting individuals with hip and knee osteoarthritis. It provides comprehensive assessment and evidence based treatment options to help you:

  • Improve your function and quality of life
  • Reduce your pain and stiffness
  • Maintain your muscle strength
  • Understand more about your condition
  • Self-manage your symptoms and other health-related problems more effectively
  • Prepare you for surgery, what to expect after, and recover more quickly

Individuals who participate in this program have better outcomes following their surgery. It is offered face to face or via telehealth. The service also targets the often complex needs of individuals suffering hip and knee joint arthritis who aren’t appropriate for surgical intervention.

Referrals are welcomed from:

  • Orthopaedic specialists
  • Rheumatology specialists
  • GPs and OACCP coordinators from other programs across NSW

Patients eligible for this program include:

  • Patients with a confirmed diagnosis of hip and/or knee osteoarthritis.
  • All patients from the elective joint replacement list at St Vincent’s Hospital are expected to participate in the program
