The Way Back Support Service

The Wayback Support Service is Government funded partnership with Neami National that aims to support people who have presented to hospital with suicidal intent or ideation.

The service aims to provide practical, non-clinical, psychosocial and emotional support to consumers after being discharged from hospital. Once discharged, the consumer will be allocated with a Neami case worker who will provide up to 3 months of 1:1 support.

The support is focused around enhancing each person's mental health and well-being by focusing on enhancing lifestyle factors and working towards a set of goals, tailored to each person's individual needs.

We can assist with things such as (but not limited to):

  • Follow up information/plan from the hospital incl. individual safety planning
  • Assist to find employment, education and training courses, enrolling into courses
  • Link in with community supports (GP, Psychologist, Counsellor, Psychiatrist)
  • Understand stressors and utilise skills to regulate emotions
  • Link with recreational and social connections in the local community
  • Housing and accommodation support
  • Link with outside support services (Drug & Alcohol, gambling support, relationship support, DBT groups) etc
