In case of emergency, call 000 immediately.

The St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney Emergency Department is responsible for treating all adult patients in need of immediate medical attention. Our team treat a range of emergency conditions including critically ill patients, cardiac arrests, major trauma, heart attacks and abdominal pain as well as aged and socially disadvantaged patients.

Our Emergency Department also treats psychiatric emergencies within our Psychiatric Care Centre (PECC).

Our team consists of doctors, nurses, social workers, mental health specialists, physiotherapists and administrative staff.

Treatments that take place within the Emergency Department are free and covered with your Medicare card.

All patients are triaged and treated in order of medical priority, not on order of arrival.

St Vincent's Safe Assessment Space (SAS)
SAS is a part of the emergency department that offers a supportive and welcoming environment for people experiencing mental health distress. Every individual is different and each assessment and treatment pathway is tailored to the individual needs of our patients. Click here for more information about SAS.
