Emergency

In case of emergency, call 000 immediately.

The St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney Emergency Department is responsible for treating all adult patients in need of immediate medical attention. Our team treat a range of emergency conditions including critically ill patients, cardiac arrests, major trauma, heart attacks and abdominal pain as well as aged and socially disadvantaged patients.

Our Emergency Department also treats psychiatric emergencies within our Psychiatric Care Centre (PECC).

Our team consists of doctors, nurses, social workers, mental health specialists, physiotherapists and administrative staff.

Treatments that take place within the Emergency Department are free and covered with your Medicare card.

All patients are triaged and treated in order of medical priority, not on order of arrival.

Visiting hours and conditions
We regret that we are temporarily unable to accept visitors at this time, except on compassionate grounds (such as end-of-life care).

We have not made this decision lightly, but we must always prioritise the health and safety of our patients and staff.

Thank you for your support and understanding.
