Inner City DBT Skills Group
Level 4, The O’Brien Centre, 390 Victoria Street, Darlinghurst
The Inner City Health Program (ICHP) at St Vincent’s Hospital Darlinghurst runs a 15-week skills group based on Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). DBT is an evidence based therapy for people with pervasive emotion dysregulation and associated problem behaviours. This skills group is one component of a person’s overall mental health treatment.
The group is available to people who reside in the SVH catchment area, who are over 18 years old, already engaged in outpatient therapy, and want to learn skills to reduce problematic coping behaviours.
Group participation involves attendance at weekly, 2.5hr group sessions for 15 weeks. Eligibility relies on regular attendance, motivation to undergo treatment for risky behaviours, access to (at least fortnightly) individual treatment sessions and the ability to commit to attending the group sober.
There are also exclusion criteria that will be considered too. All referred persons will need to complete a screening and assessment process to determine suitability for the program.
Dates: The skills group is next running June to September 2022; no further referrals are being accepted for that group. Future dates to be advised via this website later in 2022.
Time: mornings, weekly
Location: Telehealth or at the St Vincent’s Darlinghurst campus
Cost: Free, priority is given to suitable persons who are unable to access a DBT program through alternative means.
We are not currently accepting referrals. We will invite referrals again once the date for the next round of DBT skills group, is confirmed.
If would like to go on an Expression of Interest list, to be advised of when we are inviting referrals for the next round of program, please call or email us to discuss.
