Inner City DBT Skills Group

Level 4, The O’Brien Centre, 390 Victoria Street, Darlinghurst

About Us

The Inner City Health Program (ICHP) at St Vincent’s Hospital Darlinghurst runs a coping skills group based on Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).

DBT is an evidence based psychological therapy for people with pervasive emotion dysregulation and associated problem behaviours, including suicidality and self-harm.

This skills group is one component of a person’s overall mental health treatment.

Group participation involves attendance at weekly, 2.5hr group sessions for 16 weeks.

Regular attendance, motivation to undergo treatment for problematic behaviours, and access to individual treatment sessions in order to consolidate the learning, are important.

Participants must reside in the St Vincent’s Mental Health service’s catchment area.

This includes: Darlinghurst, Millers Point, Dawes Point, The Rocks, Barangaroo, parts of Chippendale, parts of Ultimo, parts of Haymarket, Woolloomooloo, Surry Hills, Potts Point, Kings Cross, Darling Point, Elizabeth Bay, Rushcutters Bay, Paddington, parts of Woollahra, parts of Edgecliff, parts of Double Bay, parts of Centennial Park, parts of Moore Park.

If you reside in a suburb listed as partially in our catchment area, please contact our team to confirm your eligibility.

If you live outside of the above included suburbs, please contact the Statewide Mental Health Access Line on 1800 011 511 to be connected with your local public mental health service.

Additionally, eligible participants must also meet the following criteria:

- Experience pervasive emotion dysregulation
- Experience suicidal ideation or episodes of self-harm
- Want to learn skills to reduce this and other problematic coping behaviours, via a group setting.
