The Safe Haven Cafe

Safe Haven is a friendly, compassionate, and safe place to visit if you or your friends, family or carers, have been experiencing emotional distress, including suicidal distress and you would like some support and social connection. Most of the staff have their own lived experience of suicidal distress and can listen, understand, and offer support.

You might just want to have a cup of tea or coffee, talk to the Peer Workers, join in an activity, or sit quietly listening to music. You choose what suits you best.

What will the Safe Haven offer?
  • Compassionate and friendly environment where people won’t be judged
  • Support from Staff with lived experience based on the individual needs of the guests visiting
  • Support offered will be recovery focused and underpinned by trauma informed practices
  • Guests will have access to 1:1 support and group work
  • Sensory Modulation
  • Assistance with accessing a wide range of other services
  • Health education and wellbeing planning
  • Guests could simply just pop in and have a cuppa and a chat

Peer – Led care

Peer workers use their lived experience with mental health and personal growth to make meaningful connections with guests, using their story to inspire hope and show the guests that this moment shall pass and recovery is possible.

They listen, relate and collaborate with the guest to find the best road forward for each individual.
