Lend your voice to suicide prevention in your Sydney city community

We are currently looking for expressions of interest in order to bring together the voices and perspectives of those with a lived experience of suicidal distress in the co-design of an alternative to an Emergency Department.

The Safe Haven will provide a non-clinical, warm, and welcoming space where people will be supported by Suicide Prevention peer workers and be able to access information and connections in the community. 

We invite you to join the co-design if you have a background in one or more of these areas:

  • Public health;
  • NGO,
  • Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation;
  • Mental health/ambulance project clinician;
  • Manager: crisis support service;
  • Crisis support worker;
  • Manager: mental health or suicide prevention;
  • Triage;
  • Mental Health CNC;
  • Mental Health Line experience;
  • Alcohol and other drugs worker;
  • General Practitioner;
  • Frontline emergency responder (i.e. police, ambulance, ED staff);
  • Peer worker/coordinator; and/or
  • Other relevant experience.
Phase two: Co-design of alternative to emergency department safe haven
Focus Group Conversations

Online 1hr sessions with small groups of 3-4 people. Our aim is to engage 9 lived experience members and 9 health professionals in this process from across inner city Sydney.

14 May 2021, 10am - 11am, 1pm - 2pm or 4pm - 5pm.

Professionals Group Co-Design Workshop

Online session with all professional members.

8 June 2021, 12pm - 4:30pm.

Combined Co-Design Workshop

A smaller group of lived experience participants and health professionals will be invited to attend this online session.

22 June 2021, 10am - 1:30pm.

Feedback Loops

A series of feedback loops will be held throughout the co-design. These are broader consultations, with relevant stakeholders, through recorded webinars of co-design outputs to date and online surveys for feedback.

You will have the opportunity to join live webinars or watch recordings. Dates and times will be advised.

Expression of Interest

Please note, due to capacity limits it is possible that not all applications will be invited to participate. We will choose people based on ensuring professional diversity and demographics.
