People with Lived Experience

Lend your voice to suicide prevention in your Sydney city community

We are currently looking for expressions of interest in order to bring together the voices and perspectives of those with a lived experience of suicidal distress in the co-design of an alternative to an Emergency Department.

The Safe Haven will provide a non-clinical, warm, and welcoming space where people will be supported by Suicide Prevention peer workers and be able to access information and connections in the community.

We invite you to submit an expression of interest to be involved in a paid opportunity, including two distinct phases if you reside in the inner city Sydney area and have either:

  • A lived experience of suicidal distress and have either attended an Emergency Department in distress or chosen not to; or
  • A lived experience of supporting someone who has experienced suicidal distress to attend an Emergency Department or supported someone who has chosen not to.
Phase One: capacity building workshop

As part of forming the lived experience group that will contribute to this co-design initiative, you will participate in a capacity building workshop, facilitated by Roses in the Ocean.

Our Voice in Action is designed for people with a lived experience of suicide who want to learn how to bring their specific wisdom and learnings to the table. The workshop prepares you as a group to effectively harness your collective expertise and work with other lived experience representatives.
